Abstract
Effects of activated charcoal (AC), sucrose, and in vitro cultural conditions were investigated to form normal bulblets from bulblet sections (7-8 §® ¡¿ 12¡15 §®) with swollen basal plate, and then to promote their growth in Lilium Oriental hybrid ¢¥Case Blanca¢¥. Bulblet formaton from bulbscales and bulblet sections with swollen basal plate was inhibited by adding AC to MS basal medium, while the growth of regenerated bulblets was promoted on the media containing AC. Especially, the media added with 0.53.0 g¡¤L^(-1) AC were very favorable for the growth of regenerated bulblets. The growth of regenerated bulblets from bulblet sections with swollen basal plate was more enhanced than that from bulbscales. Bulblet formation from bulblet sections with swollen basal plate was similar in bout light and dark, but growth of regenerated bulblets was more stimulated and any leaf emergence was not observed under darkness. Bulblet formation from bulblet sections with swollen basal plate was inhibited as sucrose concentration increased, and in darkness rather than light. However, growth of regenerated bulblets was more stimulated in darkness. Growth of regenerated bulblets was very effective on the medium supplemented with 60 g¡¤L^(-1) sucrose, while callus from basal part of bulblet sections was formed on the media with 90 g¡¤L^(-1) sucrose under both light and dark.
